For five generations, the same family has resided in this magnificent chateau that dominates the southern Rhone landscape. Estate-grown grapes are harvested from vines as much as 100 years old. This wine is a blend of 70 percent Grenache, 15 percent Syrah, 8 percent Mourvédre, 5 percent Cinsault and less than 2 percent Muscardin and Cunoise, and it is aged 12 months in 1- to 3-year-old barrels. Smooth and full-bodied, the wine exudes a rustic yet elegant character with spice-infused dark fruit aromas and chewy red and black berries on the palate and in its lingering finish. It's good with red meats, game and hearty dishes.
